Verdict

Most tofu cat litter offers great odor control and a dust-free experience.

Pidan was no different in my experience. Our kittens enjoyed it, despite the thin needle-like shape.

The added health monitoring is a nice bonus. Plus it’s flushable.

The price, like most tofu litter, is a bit steep. With it’s great clumping you’ll cut down on wastage, but I did get a little seepage to the bottom.

Can track a little, so won’t suit trays without towering sides to keep it in it’s place.

Overall, it’s another good tofu cat litter for those wanting something natural and bio-friendly for their cat.

Dustiness

Pidan tofu cat litter is very low dust.

I used an air quality monitor and tested Pidan tofu cat litter using three tests. At no point did levels go into harmful ranges.

This makes it an excellent option for those concerned with health. Data and video footage below.

Cat Preference and Usage

I tested Pidan tofu cat litter with a control (Smitten clay litter).

My two kittens quickly warmed up to this litter and used it slightly more than the clay litter (11 compared to 10) over two days.

Scooping urine waste was effortless, with nicely formed small hard clumps. I actually found myself looking forward to scooping litter, not seeing it as a chore.

The milky vanilla scent also masked any odor quite well most of the time. It only got a bit foul with some feces, but settled down after I removed it. Urine smell was non-existent in my experience.

Some litter got kicked outside the tray which is a common issue I’ve been having whilst using these low sided trays for reviewing purposes. You’ll definitely want to look into a high sided tray.

The good news is the particles don’t disintegrate too much. They are easy enough to scoop back into the tray if they fall out.

Review Limitations

I only used this litter for 3 days (one to acclimate the kittens to the litter, and two for testing). This might not be enough time to find out what our cats liked best.

I emptied the litter tray at least three times a day. If one tray gets full, another might get used instead. I’d need to scoop litter 24/7 or have two of each tray to get around this.

Finally the litter boxes used in this article are only 42cm long. Research suggests cats prefer larger boxes (at least 1.5x the size of your cat) and this can affect results.
